Kiln Wash is a powder that is mixed with water to form a loose paste, It is then painted on surfaces within the kiln to keep glazes and clay from sticking to the refractory materials. You can coat your shelves and posts to prevent materials sticking to them. It is also useful to coat cone shelves and the cone supports in your Dawson kiln sitter. It will prevent the cones from fusing to the cone supports. Some painters like to periodically coat the floor of their kilns to prevent things from sticking to the fire brick.
